Filter the logbook

What you'll do

Narrow down the logbook entry list to find specific entries by priority, type, user, position, date, or keyword. Useful when the logbook has dozens or hundreds of entries and you need to find something specific or review a particular category of records.

Before you start

  • You are in an event (named or default) with a logbook open in the tabbed view
  • The logbook has entries to filter

Steps

  1. Find the column you want to filter by. Each column header in the logbook entry list has a filter icon (funnel) and a kebab menu (three dots).

  2. Click the filter icon or kebab menu on the column header you want to filter.

  3. Set your filter criteria. The options depend on the column:

    a. Priority: select one or more priority levels (Advisory, Minor, Major, Critical)

    b. Type: select one or more entry types (Information, Question, Decision, Answer)

    c. Text: type a keyword or phrase to search within entry text

    d. User: filter by who posted the entry

    e. Position: filter by the position held when the entry was posted

    f. Date of Occurrence or Modified: filter by date range

  4. Apply the filter. The entry list updates to show only matching entries.

  5. To remove a filter, reopen the column filter and clear your selection.

Result

The logbook list shows only entries matching your filter criteria. Multiple filters across different columns combine (for example, filtering Priority to Critical AND Type to Decision shows only critical decisions).

Tips

  • Priority + Type is the most useful filter combination for after-action review. Filter by Decision to see every decision made during the event. Filter by Critical to see every life-safety issue. Filter by Question to find unanswered items.
  • Filters don't persist when you switch tabs. Each logbook tab maintains its own filter state, but filters reset when you close and reopen a tab.
  • Use the sort arrows on column headers (click the column name) to sort by any column. Sorting by Date of Occurrence in ascending order gives you a chronological timeline of the event.
  • Columns can also be sorted via the kebab menu on each column header.
